Breastfeeding sessions have easily been a favorite over the last few years. The bond between mom and baby is such a pleasure to catch on camera. Between the many opportunities I have had witnessing babies and their first latch, to coordinating group events for women breastfeeding any aged child, I have probably photographed 150-200 different women breastfeeding their babies, several of which are repeat clients whom I see often and with more than one breastfed baby. I literally have THOUSANDS of breastfeeding images because I feel passionately about the normalization of breastfeeding, especially in public places.
This is the first year we celebrate World Breastfeeding Week with ALL of our states possessing laws that cover breastfeeding mothers in public. It has been a battle, but Idaho finally joined the rest of the country in making breastfeeding in public places legal. While this is a great step, we still have a long way to go to normalize feeding our babies from the breast. The theme
"The logo features the WBW-SDGs Campaign 'triad' of two adults and an infant, which reinforces the importance of working together to protect, promote and support breastfeeding. Branches, leaves and sprouts represent growth and development. The line extending from the triad and sprouting into leaves are the links between breastfeeding and nutrition, food security and poverty reduction. This reflects the #WBW2018 slogan Breastfeeding: Foundation of Life. The ochre colour of #WBW2018 graphics is consistent with the WBW-SDGs Campaign Thematic Area 1."
