Another Birth session in Las Vegas- one of my favorite types of session to capture! They are packed so full with emotion. As everyone hears often, birth is unpredictable. Sometimes things go fast, sometimes they go slow, and rarely can we predict a path. Communicating often with my clients often and hearing their voice is important. This is especially crucial when they think it is "time". The more births I attend, the more familiar I become with how a laboring woman sounds. When it is her partner calling, there is even more to tell from the situation!
This was a great example of using my past experiences with my own intuition, because had I not, I would have missed it! I was assisting at the Milk Bar Baby Cafe at Serenity Birth Center when I got the call that contractions had began. Within a few minutes a text followed that things were picking up. Even though mom said she wasn't ready for me, I had a different feeling. I was nervous that when her water broke things would go too quickly.
I set off and slowly made my way to them. I wasn't in a rush right away. Taking my time, I dropped off my youngest and squared away after-school care for the others. I had planned on grabbing some lunch and heading to their home while they labored. Of course as soon as I dropped off my daughter, her water broke and things began to happen quickly. Almost right away, I got the call that they were in route to the hospital! My leisure-like drive turned into a Nascar race against time. I literally ran in as she was pushing- just in time to capture dad beautifully supporting his wife as they welcomed their second daughter into the world. Congratulations on another beautiful child!
If you haven't already, don't forget to check out her beautiful maternity session followed by our in-home newborn session!
